Silk specialists Pongees believes that silk will be an even more desirable fabric for autumn/winter 27/28 collections, as more designers – and their customers – turn to fantasising and daydreaming to escape from real world threats and preserve well-being.
“Silk, with its natural qualities of softness, drape, sheen and robustness, is the prefect fabric to translate a playful idea into a tangible, luxurious commercial design,” says Nick Moore, managing director of Pongees.
“With so many options in weaves, finishes and weights, designers can also cleverly combine two or more silks or add other natural fabrics, embroidery or pleating, to represent the multi- layers of societal concern.”
Silk satin, organza, tulle, georgette and chiffon changeant are among the fabrics that the Pongees team is tipping for the new season.
As for colours: oasis, jade, sky, silver, candy, honey, celadon and natural are among those that evoke fantastical reality.
